Poppet Type Coupling: - These are the most commonly used couplings in general purpose application, Agricultural Equipments, industrial application, mobile hydraulics & many more. It has poppet valve in both or one half of coupling. These couplings are operated by sleeve lock mechanism i.e. to retract the sleeve for connecting or disconnecting the coupling.
On the basis of shut off valves it is again divided into two parts i.e. single shut off valve & double shut off valve coupling.
Flat Face Coupling: These are the couplings having flat face valve on both halves of couplings. The additional feature provided in this type of coupling is Ball Lock Mechanism which is very useful in application where vibrations are more. The maximum working pressure is higher in flat face couplings as compared to poppet type couplings.
Screw Type Couplings: - These couplings are operated by screwing and unscrewing the sleeve over the plug. These are used in high pressure applications up to 600 Bar where it needs rigidity in the system. The check valve in the screw type coupling may be poppet type or ball type.
Screw Jack Couplings: - These couplings are used in very high pressure applications from 700 Bar to 1000 Bar. It is available in ¼†& 3/8†sizes, its standard Plug is has NPT(F) threads and socket has NPT(M) threads. These are mostly used in power packs, jacks, and many high pressure applications.
Through Type Couplings: - These couplings are the couplings having no any Non Return Valve (NRV). It is used in water or air application where leakage is having least importance. Through type couplings are well known in the market by ST-40 series.
Multi couplings: - When two or more that two couplings need to be connected simultaneously, then multi couplings are used. It is lever operated and useful for applications where multi couplings are to be operated simultaneously.
Connect Under Pressure Couplings: - All other Quick Couplings are designed to connect or disconnect when there is no any pressure in the system, but for specific application where the pressure can’t be relieved, Connect Under Pressure Couplings are used. These couplings can be connected under specific residual pressure. These are available in market in Poppet Type & Flat Face Type.
Breakaway Coupling: - These coupling minimize product loss and safety hazards by remaining open during normal use and closing rapidly under excessive force. They are typically used during the transfer of hazardous materials. Breakaway couplings are designed to permit a steady flow of material until excessive force is exerted on the coupling; it then pulls apart to avoid damage to the system and can be reassembled quickly by one person without tools or spare parts.
Thermal Couplings: - These are special purpose couplings useful for cooling applications where the media flowing through the coupling is Water Glycol. These are the couplings having Flat Face Valve & made up in Aluminium material.
Wing Nut Coupling: - These are also one type of Screw Coupling in addition with two wings provided on both sides of sleeve to operate the sleeve so that the sleeve can be connected or disconnected easily. The wing nut couplings are useful where it is difficult to rotate the sleeve due to restrictions of space e.g. Tippers.
