Description
Dong leaf (ynium) is widespread throughout Asia, with records from India, China, and Indo-China through to New Guinea. are commonly used for wrapping food, e.g. meat, fish, cooked rice, and vegetables in Java and cakes in Vietnam. In New Guinea ynium Willd. is also used for thatching. In Vietnam, leaves are soaked in rice alcohol or in a solution of sugar in water to make vinegar, and leaf juice is applied as an antidote for alcohol ind snake bites. Especially, Dong leaf is very important ingredients for making âBanh Chungâ-traditional rice cake for Luna New Years in Vietnam
