Iran is one of the main countries in the world in pistachio production and cultivation, and pistachio is one of the most valuable agricultural products in Iran. Each year, more than 95% pistachio harvested in Iran’s gardens is exported to Europe and other parts of the world, and less than 5% is the share of the domestic market.According to statistics released by the FAO, in 2018, Iran is the first major country in the production of pistachio in the world by producing 550,000 tons each year, and the United States is the second rank after Iran with 447,000 tons, followed by Turkey with 240,000 tons.
