Kola nut is the fruit of the evergreen kola tree which is found in the rainforest of West Africa. Inside the treeâs star-shaped fruits are white shells, which contain the seeds or kola nuts. Each fruit contains between two and five kola nuts. About the size of a chestnut, this little fruit is packed with caffeine. Kola nuts have a bitter taste when chewed fresh. When they are dried, the taste becomes milder and they reportedly smell of nutmeg. The estimated production life of a kola nut tree is 70 -100 years.
Kola nut is use as a flavoring ingredient in food and beverages. It is also use in the rmaceutical industries as active ingredient for short-term relief of depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraine headaches, dysentery and many more ailments.
