Pomegranate, scientifically known as Punica granatum, is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub or small tree native to the region of Iran to the Himalayas in northern India. It is now widely cultivated in regions with a Mediterranean climate, as well as in drier subtropical and tropical areas.
