Processed cow hides, popularly known as Fata or ganda in Hausa and ponmo in Yaruba, serves as food delicacy in several parts of Africa. The hairs from the animal hide is locally removed by sucking the hides in hot water followed by shaving with razor blade to give the finished product (ponmo) or by burning the hide in fire and later sucking in water and removing the black remains using knife/metal sponge
