Shea butter is a slightly yellow or ivory coloured natural fat extracted fronm the seeds of the African Shea tree. It is widely used in cosmetics as moisturiser and salve. Shea nuts are primarily grown in West and Central African in the semi- arid sahel. There are various grades of raw Shea butter and ranges front cream to grayish yellow and pure white. The grade A retain the most vitamin (A and E). Nigeria is the leading producer of Shea nut and butter in the world. They are available in Grade A, B and C.
