Clitoria ternatea, commonly known as Asian pigeonwings, bluebellvine, blue pea, butterfly pea, cordofan pea and Darwin pea, is a plant species belonging to the family Fabaceae. In India, it is revered as a holy flower, used in daily puja rituals. Butterfly peas prefer regular watering in the first growing season to absorb nutrients in the soil. The spurred variety is drought-tolerant but once it matures, it requires small but additional amounts of irrigation, especially in hot and dry weather conditions.
