Halloumi PDO Cheese

Halloumi is officially recognized worldwide as a distinctive cheese indigenous to Cyprus. It is a white semi-hard cheese with a distinctive layered texture, made from sheep and/or goat’s milk, which can also be blended with cow’s milk.Â

To be considered as authentic halloumi, its production must take place exclusively within the Territory of the Republic of Cyprus.  Producers of Halloumi PDO must conform with the requirements of the applicable Regulations and hold a certificate based on the approved ‘Control and Certification Plan for the use of Protected Designation of Origin Halloumi PDO.
