A fuse is basically a short wire that is intended to melt and separate when an excessive amount of current is applied. Fuses are always arranged in series with their components to be safe from overcurrent, so that when the fuse blows, it’ll open the whole circuit and prevent current from passing through the component. A fuse if connected to one branch of a parallel circuit, wouldn’t affect the current on any other branches. Fuses are only rated in the unit for current: amps.
