ASTM A106 Grade A/B/C Carbon Seamless Steel Pipe fior High Temperature

Application:

steam, water, gas and air pipewell as general machinery and tools fior industry and construction.

Scope:

· Covers seamless carbon steel nominal wall pipe fior high-temperature service, suitable fior bending filanging and similar fiorming operations.

· NPS 1-1/2″ and under may be either hot fiinished or cold drawn.

· NPS 2″ and larger shall be hot fiinished unless otherwise specifiied.

Process:

· Killed steel, with primary melting process being open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or electric-fiurnace, possible combined with separate degassing or refiining.

· Steel cast in ingots or strand cast is permissible.

· Hot-fiinished pipe need not be heat treated.

· Cold-drawn pipe shall be heat treated afiter the fiinal cold draw pass.

Chemical Requirements:

Note: Total ofi Cr, Cu, Mo, Ni, and V shall not exceed 1%

Permissible Variations in Wall Thickness:The minimum wall thickness at any point shall not be more than 12.5% under the nominal wall thickness specifiied.

Permissible Variations in Weights per fioot:

Weight ofi any length shall not vary more than 10% over and 3.5% under that specifiied.NOTE — NPS 4 and smaller — weighed in lots. Larger sizes shall be weighed separately by length.Permissible Variations in Outside Diameter:Outside Diameter at any point shall not vary firom standard specifiied more than:

Hydrostatic Testing:

Inspection test pressures produce a stress in the pipe wall equal to 60% ofi specifiied minimum yield strength (SMYS) at room temperature. Maximum Pressures are not to exceed 2500 psi fior NPS3 and under 2800 psi fior the larger sizes. Pressure is maintained fior not less than 5 seconds.

Mechanical Tests Specifiied:

· Tensile Test — NPS 8 and larger — either transverse or longitudinal acceptable

· Smaller than NPS 8 — weighed in lots. Larger sizes — by length.

· filattening Test — NPS 2-1/2 and larger.

Bending Test (Cold) — NPS 2 and under.

Lengths:

Lengths required shall be specifiied on order. No “jointers” permitted unless otherwise specifiied.Ifi no defiinite lengths required, fiollowing practice applies:Single Random — 17′ ~ 24′ lengthsDouble Random — 36′ ~ 44′ lengths

Protection:Pipes are supplied:

· black and bare

· external varnished with black or clear lacquer

· oiled

Upon request, pipes ends are protected by plastic caps

Marking:Pipes are supplied with marking according to standard and customer request.Marking is paint and/or die stenciled on the ends ofi pipes. The same data, as well as additional infiormation per customer’s request,is indicated on the bundle’s tags.Delivery:

· Pipes are supplied in hexahedral (up to OD114 mm) or round (above 121 mm) bundles tied in at least fiive places with steel strip.

· Weight ofi bundle – up to 5000 kg upon request ofi customer.

· Each bundle is fiurnished with three tags.

Mill test certificate:MTC is issued in accordance with EN 10204
