Company History: Oman Mining Company LLC (OMCO), established by Royal Decree, is Oman’s only state owned prime mining operator. OMCO has successfully mined copper, gold and other minerals from the Sultanate’s mineral rich resources. As a part of OMCO continuous sustainable development efforts, OMCO has adopted a renewed approach in the development of mining with a strong focus on the environmental and social impact for this key industry in Oman. To achieve this goal, Green Tech Mining & Services, a special purpose vehicle (SPV), has been founded to remediate contaminated mining areas and make copper and gold mining widely acceptable again in the Sultanate. This is in accordance with Oman’s economic diversification strategy, which is summarized in Oman’s Vision 2040.
