YOSUN media used in MBBR are continuously in motion caused by air injection and agitator. The specific density of the media can be adjusted from 0.95 to 1.05g/cm3, depending on customers’ demand.However it has to be considered that the actual density of the carrying media will increase as the biofilm develops on the media surface.

MBBR systems consist of biofilm carriers that provide protected surface area for the acclimation process of bacteria. The carriers are constructed of high density polyethylene and have an effective life of over fifteen years. The microorganisms are continuously sloughed off of the carriers and discharged with the treated water, making MBBR systems ideal for the pretreatment of wastewater streams that contain organics.
