Soapstone (also known as steatite or soaprock) is a talc-schist, which is a type of metamorc rock. Soft stones go through various processing, which includes its crushing, grinding and washing and get converted into smooth and shining powder form. It is often used to improve the quality of the surfaces by offering them resistance against electricity, chemical and thermal. A soft stone having a soapy feel and composed essentially of talc, chlorite, and often some magnetite.
