Lithium hydroxide is mainly used for the production of lithium grease, positive electrode materials of lithium battery and

other lithium salt. It is divided into industrial application and battery application.

Lithium hydroxide is a small white monoclinic crystal, which can absorb water and carbon dioxide in the air, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether. The of 1mol/L solution is about 14, relative density 1.51, melting point 471 ℃ (no water), boiling point 925 ℃ (decomposition), corrosive. It can make purple litmus test liquid blue, make colorless nolhalein turn red. The concentrated solution is verified by experiment to be able to make nolhalein degeneration and change the solution from red to colorless (similar to strong NaOH). Lithium hydroxide can be used as expansion agent and lubricating oil for spectral analysis.
