A cenosre is a lightweight, inert, hollow sre made largely of silica and alumina and filled with air or inert gas, typically produced as a byproduct of coal combustion at thermal power plants.
There are two main types of Cenosres: grey and white. The difference are in the chemical composition. The grey Cenosres has lower Al2O3 and higher Fe2O3 content. This leads to lower refractoriness than the white ones.
500 µ cenosre with a Mohs scale shell hardness of 6 and a typical crush strength of 3000-6000 psi suitable for the following applications with Al2O3 up to 32-40%, melting point 1750°C and best strength-to-density ratio.
