Solubility: Slightly soluble in water; extremely easily soluble in nitric acid, ammonia, sodium thiosulfate and potassium cyanide solution. The ammonia solution used to be treated in time when used up. Leaving aside for long will precipitate strongly explosive black crystal – silver nitride or sub-ammoniated -silver.
Uses: Mainly used as a chemical synthesis catalyst; also used as a preservative, electronic device material, glass coloring agent and abrasive.Â
