In the event of power failure in a power plant or transformer substation, batteries are there to provide backup power. However, the battery capacity can drop significantly long before its calculated life expectancy is reached, and the battery can have weak that can cause costly service interruptions. Regular capacity and impedance testing is essential for predictive maintenance and protection of assets, and it need not be time-consuming or expensive.
Battery discharge testing is the only way to get an accurate value on the actual capacity of the battery. It can be used for tracking the batteryâs health and actual capacity and estimate remaining life of the battery.
In the discharge process, it carries on rated constant-current discharge (this value is corresponding with capacity, specifically refer to industry standards), and real-time measurement for each single batteryâs voltage. If the voltage of any one battery is lower than the rated value, it stops discharging. The capacity has been released is the actual capacity of battery pack, which can judge the storage battery performance.It widely used for the capacity testing of large, industrial battery banks commonly found in electrical power sub-stations, telecom facilities and computer data center UPS systems.
