Characteristics of heat treatment bath furnace
Heat treatment bath furnace is a kind of heat treatment furnace heated or cooled by liquid medium. The medium is molten salt, molten metal or alloy, molten alkali, oil and so on. See table for common use ratio of salt and alkali.
The advantages of heat treatment bath furnace:
1. bath furnace has a wide temperature range (60-1350 degrees), which can complete many processes, but annealing is not acceptable.
2. bath furnace has the advantages of fast heating speed, uniform temperature, and is not easy to oxidize or decarbonate.
3. bath furnace has simple structure and long service life under high temperature.
4. bath furnace is suitable for workpieces with small size, complex shape and high surface quality, such as cutting tools, moulds, measuring tools and some precision parts.
5. bath furnace is easy to hang and the deformation of the workpiece is small.
The disadvantages of the heat treatment bath furnace:
1. bath furnace is less suitable for heating small and medium parts.
2. bath furnaces need more auxiliary time, such as starting and deoxidizing.
3. bath furnace is much, and the cost of heat treatment is high.
4. bath furnace is often opened, the heat dissipation of the salt bath surface is much reduced, and the thermal efficiency is reduced.
