Olibanum gum granular or powder

Dry gum resin, more small shape papillary, teardrop shape particles or irregular small pieces, 0.5 ~ 3 cm long, sometimes adhesion into lumps.  Pale yellow, often with a tinge of green, blue, or reddish brown.  Translucent.  The surface has a layer of white dust, dust removal, the surface is still dull.  The quality is firm and crisp, the section is waxy, matte, there are also a few glass luster.  Gas slightly fragrant, taste slightly bitter.  Chew it, initially broken into small pieces, quickly soften into glue blocks, adhesion teeth, saliva into milk, and slightly spicy feeling.  When the heat becomes soft, burning of a little aroma (but should not have pine aroma), black smoke, and black residue.  Grind with a small amount of water to form a white emulsion.  Light yellow, granular, translucent, no sand and stone bark impurities, powder sticky hand, aroma is better. Â

Resin 60 ~ 70%, gum 27 ~ 35%, volatile oil 3 ~ 8%. The main components of the resin are free α, β -frankincense acid 33%, combined frankincense acid 1.5%, frankincense resin hydrocarbon 33%. The gum consisted of calcium and magnesium salts of alsugaric acid (20%) and west astragalus adhesive (6%). In addition, it still contains 0.5% bitter taste. The volatile oil is pale yellow and aromatic. It contains pinene, racemic limonene and α, β -hydrocainene. Its main aromatic components are unknown. Â
