Hi Paul. We are a consulting engineering company that deals with electrification of townships. We also supply and install centralized hot water systems to townships. There is a shortage of available electricity in South Africa making it therefor impossible for township developers to register townships if sufficient electricity is not available. My partner who is also my son is a in Chemical Engineering. He specializes in Bio Energy of various kinds.We are looking into using charcoal as feedstock in stead of wood chips to heat the centralized hot water plant. We are busy with the first project of this kind for 1000 houses. Rough estimate (dont hold me to it ) 1000 tons per year for the particular development.With the prices of other forms of alternative energy i.e. gas, paraffin becoming more and more expensive and electricity not sufficient we are looking at charcoal.There is also a huge market for charcoal burning cookstove applications. Many thousands of South Africans still make use of wood cookstoves. Wood however is scarce and the market is very unstructured. My son has looked at the kWh value per kg of typical charcoal and we think that it will be cheaper for these people to cook a meal using charcoal than to use wood at the prices wood are available to them. That would mean that a total Distribution channel must be established. We have a facility in Naboomspruit (Mookgong) in the Limpopo Province that can store up to 40 tons of charcoal. We want to run a test site from there where we want to supply charcoal to informal settlements (with no electricity). We intend to make use of the small business owners who are currently selling wood tp the community. We need to know the prie of 20 ton of your charcoal delivered in Mookgeng. Further we like to get technical detail on your product.
