<p>PopCRN (the Popular Culture Research Network) hosting a virtual symposium exploring uniforms in popular culture to be held online on Thursday 20th & Friday 21st April 2023.</p><p>This symposium aims to interrogate the ways that uniforms are used to in popular culture. We invite papers which examine uniforms of every type, from the formal to the informal, from military to sports and school uniforms. We welcome papers from researchers across the academic spectrum and encourage papers from postgraduate researchers and early career researchers. Presenters will have the opportunity to publish a refereed journal articles in a special symposium edition of Clothing Cultures.</p><p>Topics can include, but are not restricted to:</p><ul><li><em>I always did like a man in uniform. And that one fits you grand. Why don't you come u sometime and see me?</em> – romancing the solider</li><li><em>It is always an honour to put on a uniform</em> – the emotional effects of inhabiting the uniform</li><li><em>I was just lucky to have a uniform</em> – access to uniforms and status in popular culture</li><li><em>When I’m relaxed, jeans and a shirt are my uniform </em>– quasi and informal uniforms</li><li><em>If you put on the military uniform, you’re a prima facie hero</em> – the transformative power ofthe uniform</li><li><em>Am I still in uniform?
