SAFAL currently operates two 6 MVA Ferro Alloys Furnaces in the Serenje District which enjoys connectivity by road to the Durban, Beira and Dar Es Salaam ports which form the gateway for material export from Zambia. In the key markets of Europe, USA, Japan, Korea, India and many other markets, Zambian origin alloys enjoy advantage of duty-free imports as against competing countries like India and China where the material is subjected to Anti-Dumping Duties.
With its current possession of Manganese Ore mines and the location of the plant in the Central Province (the Manganese belt) of Zambia, the company is successfully able to manufacture products ranging from Ferro Manganese, Silico Manganese & Ferro Silicon for export purposes. These are alloys primarily used in the steel processing industry for alloying, de-oxidation and de-sulphurisation.
We have now started mining of Lithium Ore in Zimbabwe and are in process of setting up the concentration plant to process the Spodumene Ore being mined from mines.
