Professional Parts (Pty) Ltd is the brain child of Verena Koch (Founder and CEO) and Cornel Pentz (Shareholder and CFO)

Both Cornel and Verena have spent their adult career in the Automotive industry, Verena from an OEM perspective working with various respected brands in South Africa and Cornel from an Information Technology perspective, implementing management systems at Franchised Dealerships and Outlets.

The opportunity that was identified by both of them, was that every year many items were being destroyed and written off, due to company policy, be it from the OEM or from the Dealer or Dealer Group - this was heartbreaking because it is a known fact that an item that is considered redundant or dead or non-moving by one person, might be worth absolute gold to another! It just gets harder to marry the correct client to the correct item.

A very typical scenario is that a catalogue is maintained at its broadest form but a part that was acquired a year or two ago has now become redundant and information and application about that part, is no longer regularly available. The result - an Excel list or catalogue with random descriptions of a part you know might fit a Toyota but can't recall which one, because it was three managers and two years ago. We make it our problem to tidy up the list and gather as much information as we can about each item we market.

The other fact is that as soon as a part becomes older, it is "put aside" in the darkest crevasse in the Dealer or OEM's warehouse and seen once-a-year for stock take. What we have identified is that the effort required to manage the catalogue of slow moving items is in most cases doubled and in a lot of cases these items are forgotten and become un-sellable or stolen or lost.

The solutions being put-in-place, to address this problem are a dime-a-dozen, in the form of an upload onto a catalogue on some sort of a website that boasts significant return at a nominal fee. We don't do that at all, we negotiate a favorable purchase rate and we take care of the management of the list, logistics around the movement of products and quality control! The supplier sees immediate return because we keep it simple with Purchase Orders and our client sees significant savings and can rest assured that the item is correct because we manage the entire process for everyone's benefit.

We provide our suppliers the opportunity to maximize cost recovery (because let's face it, someone had to buy that part!) and find the appropriate market for the item. In some cases we make agreements with our suppliers where they provide us with full access to their inventory at favorable rates which we are then in a position to forward on to our clients.
