Laaide was born in the summer of 2018 when three nature-loving friends had recently quit their nine to six jobs and left the big city for enjoying peaceful life in countryside. The idea about handcrafting rag rugs and recreating them in a new, modern design had been long cherished. Rag rugs have a long history in our families and country and have been created for centuries. We all had few in our houses – made by our grandmothers and great-grandmothers. We realized how cozy and pretty they are with their endless color possibilities and what a great way of up-cycling leftover fabrics it is. Shortly after that, began the story of Laaide. Laaide was created with strong values in mind, therefore our rugs are made respecting historical values, using only natural materials and helping environment. With a great love and passion we weave linen fabric rag rugs on authentic wooden looms. All of the rugs are made from leftovers of textile production factories, saving both the nature and the beauty.
