Over of a billion tires have been processed since 1982. Historically, management has overseen the remediation of over 16 million scrap tires from numerous legacy tire piles to include both public and private funded activities. Although these remediation activities were significant to reclaim our environment and prevent environmental catastrophes from tire fires, our primary focus is on the collection of the annual generation of scrap tires from retail, commercial, and solid waste transfer stations. On average, one scrap tire is generated per person annually.
Our on-going work with local jurisdictions to assist with Amnesty, Recycling, and Drop Off community events provides a critical service to the homeowner looking to get rid of those incidental tires that have been sitting in the garage or back yard without an easy disposal option. As public health activities have focused on reducing exposure to the West Nile and Zika virus by reducing breeding grounds for mosquitoes, the elimination of scrap tires which can provide pools of stagnant water has taken on a renewed importance.
