There is one area where the herbs and spices is well known in the worldwide, it’s our hometown, West Java. In this province, production of herbs and spices that have been exported to all over the world.
Our hometown also produce a high quality coffee beans. The coffee is named “Java Preanger”, which is commonly referred to by local people as Sunda Buhun. This coffee was so famous throughout Europe in the 17th to 18th centuries.
At that time it was said that coffee from the plains of Bandung was considered as a number one. It is suspected that the highlands also affects the taste of the Arabica coffee. Buhun is a local term for mentioning the age’s element of the type of coffee found in the Ciwidey area.
“Java Preanger” coffee was first planted in 1706. Previously this type of coffee was tried to be planted by the Dutch in 1696 but failed because there was a natural disaster that damaged the coffee plant.
Even according to researchers in Amsterdam at that time Java Preanger Coffee was considered the number one coffee in the world so Europeans did not call the drink a cup of coffee, but a “cup of Java” because of the authenticity of the Sundanese coffee drink.
Starting from this story, as the young generation, we want to contribute to promotes of premium spices and coffee products from West Java. So that it can have a bigger positive impact to the parties who involved in this business, also continuing struggle of our ancestors to brings these products to the world’s market
