Modern Tarpaulin, which also often referred as Tarp, is generally made of woven polyethylene with coating of colored polyethylene on both sides. The coating process is hot process and molten coat is evenly spread over the surface of woven fabric. The quality of Tarp is determined by all the aspects like the material used for woven polyethylene fabrics, its thickness, the material of coating and the coating process. These products are also referred as “polytarp” or “poly tarp”. However, it’s trade name is PE Tarpaulin which may also be referred as HDPE Tarpaulin or LDPE Tarpaulin depending on the material used for fabrics.
Normally, these tarps come in rolls of standard width of 1.8 meters (72 inches). However, depending on applications and requirements of end users; tarps are also welded with specialized welding process for higher widths & lengths; or cut into pieces and reinforced with plastic ropes as well as fitted with high quality aluminum gromets.
