Perseverance Farm Produce was founded as a formal arm of the farming enterprise to turn-around the impact of the 7-year drought (2012 – 2019). With the necessary permits we harvest the dead hardwood Acacia trees and produce firewood ready for use as a fuel in woodburning ovens, open food fires, warm water systems, in-house fireplaces etc.Farm Perseverance is a typical farm with mixed farming like cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. We sow our own feed, that is beans, sunflowers and maize. We also sell charcoal produced from the invader bush on the farm.
At Farm Perseverance we strive towards ethical farming practices. By prioritising the employment of young men left illiterate by the war in the North of Namibia (<1990) we optimise honest employment practices. Many Acacia hardwood trees died during the long drought. These trees are harvested with the aid of the manual labour. The end result of a consistent income from the harvested firewood should allow for the re-stocking of our farm with cattle and a flourishing farm.
