A liqueur is basically a beverage that contains alcohol and is made from a distilled spirit which has been mixed with herbs, spices, flowers, fruit, cream, or nuts and is lastly bottled with sugar or other sweetener. Liqueurs are usually sweet and are not stored for longer period after the ingredients are mixed, but it does get some resting periods during its production to let flavors to form a taste. Nowadays, liqueurs are manufactured globally and are widely served in several different ways: poured with coffee, or over ice, mixed with cream or other blends to form cocktails, or by themselves. Liqueurs are usually served with or right after a dessert. They are also used in different forms of cooking. Some liqueurs are added by infusing certain fruits, flowers, or woods, in either alcohol or water. Some liqueurs have an interesting property of changing its texture from transparent to cloudy when it’s added into water.
