Advent Silica HSD-Series
Colloidal Silica
Product Description
The HSD series is a customizable series consisting of alkaline, aqueous dispersions of colloidal silica, with the particle size adjustable between 20 nm and 150 nm. Both the silica (SiO₂) content
and particle size can be tailored to meet specific requirements. The silica dispersion in this series has a pH range of 9.0 to 11.0. The physical appearance of the HSD series varies from a
translucent liquid to opalescent, depending on the silica content.

Applications
The HSD series is designed to cater to applications where a larger particle size (resulting in a smaller surface area) of the product is preferred. In the initial stages of Chemical Mechanical
Planarization (CMP) and surface polishing, larger particle size colloidal silica is desired for its faster material removal rate. In fire-resistant glass, the inclusion of larger particle size
colloidal silica enhances the glass's thermal stability, distributes thermal stresses evenly, and maintains higher viscosity under heat. The HSD series is also frequently used in refractory
materials to improve mechanical strength and resistance to thermal shock. Additional applications include coatings and concrete.
Packaging Information
Plastic drums (200 liters / ~52.8 gallons)
IBC (1000 liters / ~264 gallons)

Storage
The products should be transported and stored at a temperature of 20 - 40°C (68 - 104 °F). Avoid direct sunlight for any translucent or transparent packages. Products should be used within 12
months of the manufactured dates.

Safety & Handling
Review the corresponding Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling. Colloidal silica is a synthetic amorphous silica dispersed in a stable form in water. Colloidal silica is not classified as
harmful but mildly irritating. Protective gloves should always be used before handling and the use of protective glasses is strongly recommended. In case of skin or eye contact, wash / rinse the
area with plenty of water and seek professional medical help if needed.
