Red Lentils

Red lentils, also known as masoor dal, are a staple food in India and are used in Ayurvedic medicine. They are a good source of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and other micronutrients. Red lentils are crimson in color, with a mild, earthy flavor and soft texture. They are usually marketed as whole seeds, but 90 to 95 percent of them are dehulled before consumption. Dehulled lentils can be eaten whole or split.
