Ginger

Ginger is a plant with leafy stems and yellowish green flowers. The ginger spices comes from the rhizome or ginger root which is fibrous with a striated texture. The outer skin is brown in color while the inner flesh is white, yellow or reddish in color depending on the variety. Ginger is a native to warmer parts of Asia, such as China, Japan, and India, but now in parts of South America and Africa. It is also now grown in the Middle East to use as medicine and with food. The world production of ginger in 2019 was 4.08 million metric ton. India is the world largest producer with 1.79 million metric ton, followed by Nigeria with 691,240 million metric ton. China is third largest producer with 581,140 metric ton and Nepal comes forth with 297,510 metric ton.
