Coir ropes are made through a process called defibering, which follows a long retting process of coconut husks lasting for 10-12 months. This process results in three raw materials termed bristle
fiber, coir fiber, and coir pith. Coir fiber is then twisted using a machine to create curled coir ropes in sizes ranging from 4mm to 30mm with tensile strength ranging from 100kg to 1 ton.
Additionally, it’s possible to produce coir ropes without the retting process, resulting in lower strength.
