Standard is defined as “properties – TS EN 13164 –Thermal insulation products – For buildings- Extruded polystyrene foam (XPS) fabricated products. The first extruded polystyrene foam was produced in the United States at the beginning of the 1940s for floating spoilers on military demand. As a result of intensive use, these products,, which are found to be highly resistant to water and moisture, have also been recognized for their thermal insulation properties and continue their production for their thermal insulation properties. Extrude Polystyrene Foams, which started to be in Europe in 1960s, are used for more than 50 years and are used safely in all buildings and engineering constructions. The polystyrene, which is a raw material of XPS which is produced  and used for the purpose of heat insulation with a homogeneous cell structure, is produced as a foam under constant pressure by means of a continuous extrusion process with the help of an inflating agent. It is drawn at the desired thickness along the line by extrusion process. This production, which is made on continuous  computer control, results in a stable cell structure in homogeneous honey scale. Cells are inter connected by all their faces. The air is trapped in the cells. The variation of the process parameters during production permits the modification of the XPS product properties to meet various application requirements. Compressive strength values (100-500 kPa) can be obtained with foam density (20-50 kg/m3). Heat conductivity calculation value is produced in groups 0.030-0.035-0.040. Heat insulation is produced by still dry air. The surface of the material from the production is structured in accordance with the needs of the material that can be used as the material of the armor or rough surface.
