Introducation:
Rhodiola (scientific name: Rhodiola rosea l.), is a perennial flowering plant in the family Crassulaceae. It
grows naturally in wild Arctic regions of Europe, Asia, and North America, and can be propagated as a groundcover.
Salidroside (rhodioloside) is a glucoside of tyrosol found in the plant Rhodiola rosea. It has been studied,
along with rosavin, as one of the potential compounds responsible for the putative antidepressant and anxiolytic actions of this plant.
Rosavin, along with the compounds rosarin, rosin, and salidroside, are believed to be the active ingredients
in Rhodiola rosea. This phytochemical is thought to be one of the primary active components in the herb and may be responsible for some of the mood lifting and anxiolytic effects of the
herb.
