56Si7 1.5026 Strip Mandatory information
The following information shall be supplied by the purchaser at the time of enquiry and order to enable the supplier to comply with the requirements of this European Standard:
a) the quantity to be delivered;
b) the designation of the product form (cold rolled narrow strip);
c) the number of the dimensional standard (EN 10140);
d) the dimensions and tolerances on dimensions and shape and, if applicable, letters
denoting relevant special tolerances;
e)the number of this European Standard including the number of the relevant part;
f) steel name or steel number
g) the delivery condition
h) if required, the type of inspection document in accordance with EN 10204.
56Si7 1.5026 Strip Delivery condition
Cold rolled narrow steel strip covered by EN10132-4 shall be supplied in one of the following delivery conditions:
-annealed or annealed and skin passed(+A or +LC);
-cold rolled(+CR);
-quenched and tempered(+QT).
NOTE The delivery condition-annealed to achieve spheroidized carbides(+AC)-may be agreed. In such cases, limits on spheroidization and mechanical properties may also be agreed at the time of
enquiry and order.
56Si7 Quenched Tempered Strip Decarburization
For silicon alloyed steels, decarburization shall not exceed 3% of the material thickness per side,for non silicon alloyed steels, decarburization shall not exceed 2% of the material thickness
per side when measure data distance of 5mm from the stripe edge
Hardened and Tempered Steel Strip (also known as hardened and tempered High carbon steel strip or, hardened and tempered carbon spring steel strip) is the basic raw material from which many
different components are made, substantially being spring-type applications ranging from clutch plate segments to washers, retractor springs and even to tree springs in riding saddles and
traditional clock springs. These strip products are a specialty of the Company and considerable plant development has taken place in recent years to facilitate a very wide range of dimensions,
mechanical properties and coil weights. Hardened and Tempered Steel Strip gauges of between 0.10mm and 2.00mm can be processed and, depending on the appropriate combination to suit the process
equipment, strip widths of between 4.76mm to 240mm are produced. The facilities also allow up to 2000kg coils to be produced though most are well below this, being governed by a very approximate
relationship of 100kg per 25mm of width.
The surface finish of Hardened and Tempered Steel Strip products is not too critical in general engineering applications where the normal blue-black (also known as blue-grey) oxidized finish from
the heat treatment is satisfactory. By control of the atmospheres in the furnaces non-oxidised surfaces can also be produced, on a selected basis, and alternatively, steels can be satin or bright
polished were needed, these finishes being as much for cosmetic reasons as for engineering purposes.
56Si7 1.5026 Quenched Tempered Strip Surface finish
The surface finish of cold rolled narrow steel strip shall be bright as produced by rolling and annealing in a controlled atmosphere.
The surface finishes of quenched and tempered Quenched Tempered Strip are as follows:
1 grey/blue oxide finish:unpolished;
2 brigth tempered:unpolished
3 polished: obtained by fine grinding, abrasive brushing or other processes;
4 polished and coloured:blue or yellow colour obtained by oxidization by heat
treatment.
