Summary
The hybrid Replacement System(DBHRS) expansion joint has a similar function and structure to
the Rail type expansion joint (DBR), but it can address the maintenance and replacement challenges that DBR faces.
It is an innovative technology product that can replace and maintain only damaged steel members while maintaining the existing concrete structure of the expansion joint.
This technology eliminates construction processes such as reinforcement bar placement, concrete removal and cast in, and concrete curing. It provides shorter construction periods and cost savings
compared to traditional products, extends the life of bridges, and improves stability and durability.

Features
The waterproof rubber seal between rail beams is put in the rail groove processed in the same
way as a rubber seal, playing its waterproof role perfectly. So it secures the durability of the lower structures of bridge. The spacing system installed on the bottom of rail beams equally
distributes the whole expansion behavior. For the semi-permanent use of structural steel parts, elastic parts with excellent attenuation are applied. It is possible to make continuous use only by
replacing parts.
Rail Type Expansion Joint uses only the parts that passed strict tests. So, it is possible to endure various environmental and physical conditions during the endurance life of bridge. In
addition, the expansion joint is applicable regardless of a bridge type. In short, it is usable without the limitation of expansion length (at least 120 mm).
The gap between rail beams is max. 80mm according to field conditions. The number of rail beams and the number of waterproof rubber seals depend on expansion length.
During the initial installation, an open support box is installed, allowing for efficient maintenance by only replacing the main body in the event of expansion joint damage.
Partial lane-by-lane replacement is possible, enabling efficient maintenance management.
The replacement time is significantly reduced compared to former replacement methods.
There is no need to dismantle the concrete, ensuring the durability of the structure.
Due to the minimized generation of noise, dust, and other complaints, it can be applied in all areas, including urban centers.

Waterproof
For the implementation of the perfect waterproof function of expansion joints, waterproof
rubber seals are put in the rail grooves processed in the same way of rubber seals. So, water leak is perfectly prevented. It is easy to assemble and repair the diamond-shaped waterproof rubber
seals that have the excellent function to prevent water from leaking to the bottom of an expansion joint.

Anti-corrosion
As for the surface treatment of structural steels, hot dip galvanizing is applied to prevent
salt stress and corrosion in accordance with KS D 8308 Standards. Compared to coating, this treatment guarantees excellent corrosion-resistance and adhesion. The thickness is 85μm, ensuring about
45 years of endurance.
