Besides fatty acids, KMSO seed oil also contains sterols, diglycerides, monoglycerides and phospholipids. The oil is used in cosmetics. The stable shelf life of KMSO seed oil makes it a suitable emollient. KMSO seed oil contains high amounts of unsaturated fatty acids with linoleic and oleic acids as the major acids. There are some biological applications that maintained its demand as a remedy for biological complications. L-citrulline is almost absent from natural foods but interestingly KMSO is a notable source of this component. It is produced in significant amount during drought conditions that help the KMSO to resist drought-mediated oxidative stress in harsh environment. It provides various applications as an industrial ingredient in soap production and cosmetics Anti-aging Effects KMSO is a powerful antioxidant when applied topically on the skin. It provides antioxidants support to the skin cells. Free radical is a key reason that induced damage to the cells to accelerate aging along with UV radiation. KMSO seed oil contains a significant amount of vitamin E. When applied topically or when ingested, vitamin E gets absorbed into our system. This vitamin improves the functioning of the immune system. Application of this oil on the skin improves the ability of our skin to neutralize free radicals before they damage the matrix of collagen Hepatoprotective Potential KMSO led to a reduction in blood ALT and AST levels. Their high levels are damaging for the liver. Moreover, KMSO seed oil contains palmitic, stearic, and oleic acids, which considered as the need of body and found in chocolates as well. Literature showed that these types of fatty acids help in lowering LDL cholesterol and increase HDL/good cholesterol. Therefore, KMSO seed oil might be used as a remedy to lower liver damage induced by toxic substances. Skin and Hair KMSO seed oil is good for oily skin. It reduces skin oil (sebum) by dissolving it away. It is helpful for skin especially in conditions that are aggravated by excessive oil production such as acne. It prevents clogging of hair follicles and thus prevents folliculitis like condition. KMSO seed oil is also helpful for people with dry, irritated skin in conditions like eczema and psoriasis. KMSO seed oil forms a nice smelling ingredient in hair care formulations. When applied directly to the scalp then washed out, it reduces oiliness on the scalp and hair. KMSO seed oil reduces frizz in hair and provides it nutrition. It can be used as a hot oil treatment on the hair to achieve smooth, shiny but much less greasy hair.
