2XXX series is a typical aluminum alloy in aluminum-COPper-magnesium series, which has reasonable composition and good comprehensive performance. This alloy is produced in many countries and is the largest in duralumin.
The characteristics of the alloy: high strength, a certain heat resistance, can be used as 150℃ below the working parts. At temperatures higher than 125℃, the strength of the 2XXX series is higher than that of the 7075 alloy. The forming properties are better in hot state, annealing state and new quenching state, and the hardening effect of heat treatment is remarkable, but the requirements of heat treatment process are strict. The corrosion resistance is poor, but it can be effectively protected by pure aluminum coating. It is easy to crack when welding, but it can be welded or riveted by special technology. Widely used in aircraft structure, rivets, truck wheels.
