It is hydrolyzed to ste gradually in water, which has good ability of complexing metal ions. It can complex with calcium, magnesium, iron and other metal ions to form soluble complexes. It softens hard water. As an inorganic surfactants, it has the properties of organic surfactants.
It is mainly used as additive, soap enhancer and prevent oil precipitation and frosting of strip soap. It has strong emulsification effect on lubricating oil and fat, and can be used to adjust the value of buffer soap, softener of industrial water, leather pretanning agent, dyeing auxiliaries, paint, kaolin, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate and other industrial suspensions as dispersing agent, drilling mud dispersing agent and papermaking industry as oil repellent.
