Amaranth Seed, Puffed or Flour with great quality (99.9% purity) locally grown at Mexico.
Â
Amaranth is an old cultivated crop originating on American continent. The Aztecs, Incas and Mayas considered amaranth as their staple food together with maize and beans. It used to be one of the most important crops in America before Spanish colonialists conquered it and further cultivation of the crop was banned. Amaranth was preserved on hard to reach places of mountainous Central and South America
Amaranth puffs are made by applying heat to the Amaranth grain and are considered as a cereal with a mild toasted flavor. Amaranth seed is an extremely nutritious grain, it's high in protein (15-18%) and contains lysine and methionine, two essential amino acids that are not frequently found in grains. These puffs are great added to cereal or yoghurt for a gluten-free boost.
Amaranth and quinoa are non-grasses and are called pseudo cereals because of their similarities to cereals in flavor and cooking
