1: Why serial port printer printing messy code? 

A: Ensure the baud rate setting in the PC is the same as the printer baud rate. ( we can see the printer baud rate from the self-test page) 

2: Self-test page is ok, but the printer does not work after driver installation. 

A: Recheck the installation according to the above installation wizard and see if we selected the right port or ask the service center for advice if needed. 

3: Cash drawer does not open? 

A: Please enable the cash drawer function from device settings and check the cable connecting way or contact service center for advice if needed. 

4: Malfunction of paper feeding? 

A: Use a soft brush to clean the paper sensor and try again or send it to the service center for repair. 

5: Messy code printing after some time 

A: Interface board damaged, please replace or repair it. 

6: Malfunction of the indicator light 

A: Check the cable connecting way/adapter/power cord/switch on or off? Or contact the service center for repair. 

7: Ethernet printer does not print after being linked with a router. 

A：Make sure the network cable and router port work well, does the printer IP and router IP are on the same network segment? Is the printer IP occupied by other devices? We can modify the IP with the printer tools attached to the CD. Or contact our service center for help. 

8: Messy code printing except Arabic numeral printing. 

A: If language switching incorrectly, please use the printer tools attached to the CD. Then change the language to “ASCII”. 

9: Malfunction of the auto paper cutting 

A: if the cutter doesn’t work, please check the printer tools -Function Set - Cutter Set, and make sure the option is ON. Or contact the service center for help. 

10: Red indicator keeps flashing during the printing. 

A: Usually it is due to the high temperature of the print head. Just close the printer for a while and let it cold down. Or contact the service center for help. 

11: Communication interrupts and can not print if many printers work by Ethernet port at the same time. 

A: First check the network to get the printer Ethernet ID, to see if any conflicts with the Ethernet ID. Give a specified Ethernet ID to each printer to avoid this problem. 

12: Printing speed is very slow for serial printer 

A: follow this path and change the set accordingly: Driver -- Properties -- Device Settings -- Print Mode -- Print as soft font. 

13: Water or other liquid spills into the thermal printer 

A: Cut off the power, we can dry the main board or printer head with a hair dryer, careful of the temperature ( average 50 degrees is ok ) 

14: Print paper without any content (Blank) 

A: 1. If the normal print is ok but the self-test page is blank (no content), that means the font is damaged, need to replace the font chips. 2. If without any contents for both normal print and self-test. Please replace the head and try again. Or contact the service center for help. 

15: Reset the printer to the factory default setting. 

A: Please use the printer tools to reset. “Printer tools”-” Factory Reset”

When the printer has the following conditions, you should dean the shipping label printer head:

1. The printer does not print clearly and the thermal paper is ok.

2. The printer self-test pages is not clear

3. It's getting too noisy while feeding paper or printing.

Print head cleaning steps are as follows:

1. Power off the sticker printer and open the paper room cover. Remove the thermal paper roll.

2. If the themal label printer just finished printing, please wait for the print head to cool down.

3. With a soft cotton cloth dipped in ethanol (please make sure there is no dripping), wipe the thermal print head gently and remove any dust or stains.

4. Wait for the complete evaporation of any ethanol, then place the thermal paper roll back in the barode printer and close the paper room cover, then print a test page.

Notes

1. When the sticker label printer maintenance must ensure that the power is shut down

2. Hands or other metal tools away from the surface of the printer head, do not use tweezers to scratch the surface of the print head and other sensitive parts.

3. Do not use gasoline, acetone, and other organic solvents for printer head cleaning.

Thermal label paper is specially used for thermal sticker printers, its quality will directly affect the label storage time, and even affect the life of the printer.

Thermal label paper is specially processed and has high thermal sensitivity. Thermal label paper is usually divided into three layers, the bottom layer is the paper base, and then the thermal sensitive coating layer and protective layer, which are the main reasons affecting the quality of the label paper. If the coating of thermal paper is not uniform, there will be deep color in some places and light color in some places when printing labels with bar code printing software, and the printing quality will decrease significantly. If the formulation of thermal-sensitive coating is not reasonable, it will affect the storage time of label paper.

The protective coating of thermal label paper is an important factor in ensuring the shelf life of the label paper. It absorbs some of the light that causes the chemical reaction of the thermal coating, slowing the deterioration of the paper and protecting the printer components from damage. Good thermal labels can be stored for five years or more after printing. However, if the thermal coating is not treated correctly, it may last only a few months.

Thermal label paper is waterproof, oil-proof, and tear-able. Suitable for shopping malls, electronic scales, cash register printing paper, commodity price tags, frozen fresh food, chemical laboratory, and other scenarios

How do identify the quality of thermal label paper?

1, Appearance.

If the paper is very white, the finish is not high, due to the paper's protective coating and thermal coating problems caused by the addition of too much phosphor, high-quality thermal paper should be slightly green.

2, Fire Roast Testing

Heat the back of the sticker paper with fire. The color on the label paper is brown after heating, indicating that there is a problem with the heat-sensitive formula and the storage time may be short. If the black part of the label paper has thin stripes or uneven spots, it indicates that the paint is not uniform. A good quality thermal paper should be blackish-green (with a hint of green) when heated, with an even block of color, fading from center to periphery.

3.. Sunlight Contrast Recognition.

The thermal paper printed by a barcode printer is daubed with a highlighter and exposed to the sun. The faster the thermal paper turns black, the shorter the preservation time.
