Import of healthcare products from China
At present, China and the United States are the two world powers in the manufacture of medicines and health products as well as medical devices. As you know, production in these countries is regulated by their own standards independent of European regulations, including standards for data exchange and interoperability with the rise of FHIR software. In some cases, European standards and the rest of international standards share common criteria and it is possible to validate them.
As an importer you should know that, although the products have been manufactured under the regulations of each country has been made more flexible, it is not always possible to validate the rules and import is not always viable.
In fact, for an imported medical device to be marketed in the European Union, it must comply with all the essential safety requirements imposed in the regulations applicable to medical devices for the placing on the market of this type of products.
At present, although the entry into force of the Health Product Regulations was scheduled, their application has been postponed until 2021 for reasons of management of the current health crisis.
